Cell Phones Radiation Can Cause Cancer

Cell Phones Radiation Can Cause Cancer
Do you use a cell phone? Most people do. In fact, they have pretty much become something that no one can live without. No matter where you go, someone is talking into their cell phone, or has it shoved up against their head, listening. Unfortunately, those who use cell phones may be getting a little more than they bargain for. Cell phones emit something called electromagnetic radiation. This is a low, pulsing energy that can actually interfere with our cells.

Different studies have been done that link this radiation to brain tumors, cancer, and other health conditions. In fact, in one study done with mice, the incidence of cancer and tumors was higher when the mice were exposed to electromagnetic radiation than when they were not. Many other studies have been done, and they all point to the fact that cell phone radiation causes cancer and other problems with our bodies. The interesting thing to note is that when you hold the phone to your ear, the electromagnetic radiation can reach up to the middle of your brain. This puts your brain at risk! This is why there have been numerous brain tumors that are present on the side of the brain that gets exposed. That is scary news.

So, what can you do? You have become accustomed to using your cell for everything from business to staying in touch with the people you love. You are not going to give it up very easily. On the other hand, you don't want brain tumors either. Well, here are some tips you can use to protect yourself and your family.

o Try using a hands free accessory. While you can talk on the phone just like usual, you will not have the it too close to your body. It allows you the convenience of a cell phone but it reduces some of the risk of electromagnetic radiation and its effects.

o Another thing that you can do is purchase a buffer that attaches to your cell phone. These are very helpful, and made out of all natural things. They pulse at the low level that electromagnetic radiation does, and the energy they put out helps neutralize the radiation.

o Don't allow children on the phone for more than a very short period of time. This will keep them from being exposed to electromagnetic radiation in large amounts or for longer periods of time. This may reduce their risks of developing brain tumors or other problems.

o There is also a product that you can place in a room of your home which does the same thing as the attachment for the cell phone, however it works for all of the products that emit electromagnetic radiation. There is a certain amount of area that it covers as well.

Doing small things like this can help you protect your family from cell phone radiation and other types of electromagnetic radiation.

cell phones and radiation

In a report issued today, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), which is an arm of the WHO, said it now lists mobile phone use in the same category as lead. Officially, cell phone radiation is listed as a "carcinogenic hazard."

Until today, the WHO's IARC had said that there were no adverse health effects from the use of cell phones. The wireless industry, including the CTIA lobbying group, and the Federal Communications Commission and U.S. Food and Drug Administration have also long maintained that cell phones are safe.

The CTIA, the wireless industry trade association in the U.S., was quick to point out that the WHO's IARC did not say that cell phones definitely cause cancer.

"IARC conducts numerous reviews and in the past has given the same score to, for example, pickled vegetables and coffee," John Walls, vice president of public affairs for CTIA, said in a statement. "This IARC classification does not mean cell phones cause cancer. Under IARC rules, limited evidence from statistical studies can be found even though bias and other data flaws may be the basis for the results."

The group also emphasized that the IARC's determination was based on reviewed published studies and was not the result of new scientific research.

"The IARC working group did not conduct any new research, but rather reviewed published studies," Walls continued. "Based on previous assessments of the scientific evidence, the Federal Communications Commission has concluded that '[t]here's no scientific evidence that proves that wireless phone usage can lead to cancer.' The Food and Drug Administration has also stated that '[t]he weight of scientific evidence has not linked cell phones with any health problems.'"

In response to Tuesday's news, an FCC spokesman said, "The FCC currently requires cell phones to meet safety standards based on the advice of federal health and safety agencies. We support the IARC recommendation for more research to clearly identify any potential health risks and, as appropriate, consider whether further actions may be required."

The new determination from the WHO's IARC was established at a meeting in France where a team of 31 scientists from 14 countries, including the United States, considered peer-reviewed studies about the safety of cell phones. The team said that it had found enough evidence to consider exposure to cell phone radiation as "possibly carcinogenic to humans."

Portalos Healthy News : The Food Guide Pyramid

The Food Guide Pyramid
New picture, is expected to be introduced Thursday, is intended to help remind Americans to make healthy food choices.

"We suspect that it will be divided into several sections that will show how much of various types of food you should eat.

USDA said in a statement this week that the new food icon will become "part of a comprehensive nutrition communication initiative that provides consumers with easy to understand the recommendations, a new web site with expanded information, and other tools and resources.

Food Guide Pyramid was introduced in 1992 and was replaced in 2005 by MyPyramid.

"Pyramid, to make it more subtle, are not considered as major public health success, It was confusing and divided into many parts of the complex."

The original version is widely recognized hierarchy pyramid shows food groups. Grains, vegetables and fruits are represented in the bottom of the pyramid, suggesting it should be eaten frequently. Food to be consumed in moderation in part, such as fat, dairy products and meat, is the top icon.

Version 2005 has been vertical, not horizontal, the blocks represent different food groups. It also has a figure stepped into the side of the pyramid, given the consumers of the need for training.

Making Your Own Bath Salts At Home

Making Your Own Bath Salts At Home
executive summary about Making Your Own Bath Salts At Home by Michael Vance

Making Your Own Bath Salts At Home
One product which is becoming an increasingly popular one to make at home is bath salts.

Bath salts are beneficial in a variety of ways. The salts also soak up essential or fragrance oils, and help to retain the scent in the bathwater longer. The basic ingredient for any type of bath salt is, obviously, salt. Several varieties of salt are used in making bath salts, however; iodized salt, or table salt, is very drying to the skin, so it is best to avoid it in favor of other types of salt.

A great basic recipe for bath salts is:
3 parts Epsom salt
2 parts baking soda
1 part sea salt or borax

This recipe will make a basic bath salt blend, to which you can add essential oils, colorants, dried herbs, and other additives to make a variety of products.
Dendritic salt is very fine, and therefore has greater surface area than regular salt; this means that it will help to retain colorants and fragrances better than Epsom or sea salt.

Making Your Own Bath Salts - 3 Beautiful Fragrances To Useexecutive summary about Making yor own Bath salts by Deon Du Plessis

Making your own bath salt is not only fun but it can save you a lot of money and if you are an entrepreneur it can even make you a lot of money. Bath salts are easy to make yet it sells for sky high prices in beauty store. One of the reasons why they can sell for that high is because of the unique and beautiful flavors that some of them have. While making a basic bath salt is easy, doing something that has a great balance of fragrance is both an art and a skill.

Salt works really well because it can absorb fragrance that well. It can also absorb certain minerals which is why it has certain therapeutic qualities. It all depends on what you add into your bath salt recipe. Lets quickly look at 3 great fragrances you can use.

1. Lavender
This is a classic. Whats great about lavender is the fact that you can use your own lavender from the garden for maximum effect. Simply add fresh lavender that is finely chopped into your salt mix. Then seal it with he salt and allow to rest for a few days to fully absorb the fragrance.

2. Vanilla And Honey
This is another very popular fragrance and one that is a bit harder to work with. You can use fresh vanilla beans but make sure you keep it in the stalk. Bash the stalk up before you add it to the salt mix. The best way to add hone is to mix it with boiling water so that its a runny liquid. Once you've filled your jar with salt, slowly pour the honey water over the salt and make sure you only use a small amount so that less than 1/10 of the jar ends up with liquid at the bottom -otherwise the salt will completely dissolve.

3. Lemon
This is definitely a more interesting fragrance and if you want you can combine it with orange to have a fuller citrus flavor. All you need to do is to add the zest of the lemon into your salt mix. Be sure to add enough zest to get enough fragrance into the salt.

Pickles, A Healthy Snack With Snap

Pickles, A Healthy Snack With Snap
Pickles are a popular snack, side dish, and condiment. But did you know that pickles are also a healthy part of your diet? There are many different pickle recipes out there, but each version has its own healthy benefits depending on the ingredients that went into the pickle and the method used for pickling, whether fermented or packed with vinegar. Pickles are great for most diets because not only are they low in calories, and low in fat or fat-free, many versions are also low in sugar.

Pickles are also a healthy edition to your diet for other reasons. Pickles, being made from cucumbers or other vegetables, are high in fiber which is necessary for digestive health and fighting cancer. The spices with which pickles are made are also healthy. Fermented pickles also have good bacteria that can control harmful intestinal microbes. When pickles are fermented, lactic acid is created. This acid helps to lower fat in the bloodstream, improve circulation, and lower high blood pressure. Many pickles are made with vinegars. Vinegar is also anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. So if you ever needed a reason to eat more pickles, now you have it.

Canning Homemade Banana Pickles
executive summary about homemade banana pickles by Tina Schwartz-Miller

For those of you that do not know what a banana pickle is, they are normally cut in spears rather than a round shape and they are a bright yellow color. This, I am sure is where the name comes in. They are a sweet, and if made right very crunchy pickle.

The first thing you should do when getting ready to can these pickles is to get your ingredients ready before hand. Here is a list of the ingredients you will need.

1 cup vinegar
2 cups water
3 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon dry mustard

Once your pickles are all pealed and deseeded, cut them into strips about 2 inches long. If you like a different size of pickles you may cut them to the desired length. Pack them into your jars. In a small saucepan bring your vinegar, water, sugar, salt, turmeric, and dry mustard to boil and then pour over the pickles in the jars. Then clean the tops of the jars and put the lids and rings tightly onto the jars.

Cold pack your pickles for about 5 minutes. If your brine for the pickles does not quite fill your jars simply add a little water to fill the jar.

Esophageal Cancer - Radiation Side Effects

Esophageal Cancer - Radiation Side Effects
Esophageal cancer radiation side effects can be felt for a shorter time duration which includes inflammation of mouth, esophagus and throat lining called as mucositis, fistulas formations along with esophageal perforation, bleeding, infection, dryness of mouth or xerostomia and fatigue. Certain patients who respond well to disease radiation therapy can get stricture or esophagus narrowing and even might need treating it in future.

Esophageal cancer side effects normally depend on the kind of treatment he is taking and hence the side effects can vary from one person to another. Disease effects caused due to surgery can be present in the patients for a short period. Some side effects include itching, skin rashes, loss of hair, poor appetite, vomiting, nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, lip and mouth sores. Normally these side effects disappear very gradually during or after the treatment.

Other side effects include difficulty to swallow, pain in the abdomen, cough, breathing pain or breath shortness.

Esophageal Cancer Symptoms

Esophageal cancer does not produce any symptoms in the beginning stages but can be observed in their later stages like pain felt while swallowing food or drinking liquids, unintentional weight loss, burning or pressure felt in the chest region, hiccups, chronic coughing and voice hoarseness. Sometimes the symptoms caused by upper esophageal cancer can be controlled or even relieved when suitable lifestyle changes and diet changes are applied. Treatment becomes easier and effective if upper esophageal cancer symptoms are detected earlier. Other symptoms include vomiting after consuming meals where the vomit might have undigested food, vomiting blood, chest pain, excessive gas, abdominal pain and anorexia.

Acid reflux or barrett's esophagus is also closely linked with upper esophageal cancer and their symptoms. Esophageal stricture symptoms include unable to swallow foods especially when they are solid, chest pain felt after swallowing food and so on.

6 Way Reducing Your Water Footprint

Executive Summary About 6 Way Reducing Your Water Footprint by Rachel Bertsche
From Green Goes Simple

6 Way Reducing Your Water Footprint
You've probably given some thought to your carbon footprint, but what about your water footprint? According to the EPA, the average family of four uses 400 gallons of water per day. That's the equivalent of using more than an entire swimming pool's worth of water every two months!
Wondering where those 100 gallons per person come from? Consider this: A bathroom faucet runs at about 2 gallons of water per minute. The shower uses about 4 gallons per minute. And a single toilet flush can use as much as 7 gallons.
"That 400 gallons is just direct water use," says Kai Olson-Sawyer, a water research and policy analyst who runs the online water conservation project H2O Conserve. "It doesn't even account for our indirect, or virtual, water use, like the water used by the production of food, electricity and more."
Curious how your water intake stacks up against the average American? Plug your info into H2O Conserve's Water Footprint Calculator, and then make these easy changes that will help you save some water -- and some money on your next water bill.
1. Fix all leaks, especially in the toilet. "Leaks are huge water wasters," says Olson-Sawyer. "If you notice any drips, take care of them immediately." Flushing the toilet is, on average, the largest use of household water, and a leaky toilet can waste up to 200 gallons per day. Olson-Sawyer recommends looking into a water audit for your home, which is when a professional comes into your home to identify sources of leaks and water waste. "You might spend a little bit of money to shore up your plumbing, but you'll stop leaks that will cost you in the long run," he says.
2. Turn off the water when you aren't using it. It sounds simple and obvious, but letting the water run while you brush your teeth, shave or wash dishes is a common mistake. "It speaks to the general mentality that we have an unlimited supply of water," says Olson-Sawyer. "But it's about being conscious of your actions and your water use." Turning off the faucet while shaving or brushing your teeth can save more than 200 gallons of water per month!
3. Make your water do double duty. If you look for them, you can find a number of ways to make your water work harder for you. "When you're waiting for the shower to heat up, put a bucket underneath the showerhead," suggests Olson-Sawyer. "Collect that water to use for the plants around the house. It's a great two-for-one." You can also try washing your pet on the lawn, which needs watering anyway. You'll get a great bang for your buck.
4. Fill up your dishwasher or laundry machine before running it. "People tend to throw a shirt or two in the laundry and not think about it; the same goes for people who don't like to wash dishes," says Olson-Sawyer. "But obviously, the fuller you load the machines, the more efficient your water use will be." Still, he points out that running the dishwasher -- even if it's only half full -- is always a more conservative use of water than washing the dishes by hand.
5. Water your plants when temperatures are cooler. Do your gardening in the morning or in the evening instead of in the midday sun. "Especially during the summer, when you're more likely to be gardening, you're going to lose a hefty percentage of water to evaporation. It makes the best sense to do the work when temperatures are lower," says Olson-Sawyer.
6. Invest in water-friendly appliances. When you can, use low-flow water fixtures (including toilets) and put aerators on your sinks. Both of these features use less water but don't affect water pressure. "Make these changes as toilets or faucets wear out," says Olson-Sawyer. "You don't have to go crazy replacing them all, but when you are renovating or switching things out, keep it in mind." Look for fixtures with the EPA WaterSense label, which means they are at least 20 percent more water-efficient than average products in that category.

Pink Eye-Conjunctivitis

Pink Eye-Conjunctivitis
"Pink Eye" also known as conjunctivitis is one of the most common and treatable eye infections in children and adults. This tissue helps keep the eyelid and eyeball moist.
Conjunctivitis can be caused by a virus, bacteria, irritating substances (shampoos, dirt, smoke, and especially pool chlorine), allergens (substances that cause allergies) or even sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It is easily treated with prescription eye drops.

Removing your contact lenses, avoid eye cosmetics, washing face and eyelids with gentle soap, even cool compresses may help alleviate some of the symptoms.
Hand washing is most important especially after touching your eyes. Never share eye cosmetics or contact lenses with anyone. Overall "pink eye" is usually a nuisance problem that is of little health risk and easily managed.

Curing Pink Eye Or Conjunctivitis Naturally Using Home Remedies

What is Pink Eye?
Conjunctivitis, or pink eye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, a clear membrane that covers the outer layer of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelids. As with other common eye inflammations, conjunctivitis usually looks and feels worse than it is. What are the Symptoms of Conjunctivitis?

Infection usually begins with one eye but can quickly spread to the other eye in cases of viral or bacterial conjunctivitis. Symptoms of pink eye may include:
Discomfort in the eye
Redness of the eye or inner eyelids
Tenderness of the eye, or pain
If your eyes are itchy, rather use a clean compress for quick relief.
Wash your hands thoroughly before and after touching your eyes.
Seek medical attention if you develop conjunctivitis when you have a cold sore as herpes simplex related conjunctivitis is a serious condition.
If you wear contact lenses, switch to glasses until your eyes have completely healed.
Wear sunglasses outdoors as sunlight irritates pink eye.

Home Remedies to Cure Pink Eye
